On June 6, 2024, at 8:48 a.m., Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the 19th Siam Physics Congress at the Krungsri River Hotel, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
On this occasion, Her Majesty listened to special lectures on the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) by Professor Yifan Wang, Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and on The Telescope in the Ice: Neutrino Astronomy at the South Pole – recent results from IceCube by Professor Albrecht Karle, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her Majesty viewed the exhibition of research work samples of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, including the graphene oxide production machine and reduced graphene oxide, the development of graphene weapons, and the development of jewelry products using PVD coating technology, as well as the exhibition of research collaboration projects driven under the royal initiatives of the Information Technology Foundation under the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Recognizing the importance of international cooperation, which is an important platform for pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge, from the exchange of ideas and collaboration among researchers and scientists around the world, Her Majesty has continuously supported the promotion of international cooperation and the development of physics in Thailand to the world level, whether in astrophysics, high-energy particle physics, or plasma physics, leading to various collaboration projects, such as the Thai-CERN project, the Thai-Juno project, and the Thai-IceCube project, etc.
At the 19th Siam Physics Congress, the Hub of Talents for Particle Accelerators, with the Thailand Centers of Excellence in Physics, organized an exhibition to promote the Hub's operations. We also organized a special lecture on the topic of "SYNAPSE 3D Human Brain Imaging (Synchrotron XTM)" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weeraphong Phaesuwan, which was attended by more than 60 interested people.
The 19th Siam Physics Congress is organized by the Thai Physics Society in collaboration with King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang under the theme "Physics Beyond Boundaries: Interdisciplinary Insights for a Changing World" during 5 - 7 June 2024 at the Krungsri River Hotel, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. It serves as a national forum for physicists to exchange knowledge learn about the progress of modern physics and present their research results in physics. More than 500 Thai and international researchers, lecturers, students, and undergraduates attended the meeting.
